Sep 10 2018, by News & Events inVisit us in Booth #1148 to discover how die casters are improving the shot blast step with Transmet’s Cast Zinc Shot, Cast Aluminum Shot, and Stainless Steel Grit.
Aluminum die cast parts, zinc die cast parts, and magnesium parts have shown to benefit from an improved surface finishes and reduced damage to blast equipment.
Transmet Blast Media for Die Casting
Transmet manufactures and supplies high durability, long-lasting Shot that does not damage parts or equipment. We work with aluminum die casters, zinc die casters, and others to improve surface finish, lower cycle times, and generally improve the casting appearance.
Die Casting Surface Finish Examples
The fins on this Aluminum Die Casting warped when blasting with hard steel shot. We were able to blast the thin-walled part without warping by using our Cast Zinc Shot:
Here is an example of a Zinc Die Casting company having delamination problems caused by a shot blasting step using hard steel shot. Problems were discovered in later paint steps caused by the exposed porosity on the casting surface.
Cast Zinc Shot was able to remove flash and achieve surface finish specs without the delamination problem:
See Reduction In Damage From Inside The Blast Wheel
Cast Shot significantly reduces damage and wear on internal machine components. See what this looks like from inside the machine, with a blast wheel that has clocked over 17000 hours of blasting with Transmet Cast Zinc Shot:
